Hialeah Gardens Branch Library Under Construction
Construction has begun on the new Hialeah Gardens Branch Library which will be located at Westland Gardens Park, 13501 NW 107 Avenue.
The new, approximately 13,500‑square‑foot library will replace the existing storefront location on NW 87th Avenue and will include amenities such as a café, an outdoor covered seating area, a community multi‑purpose room, a digital media center, flexible interior spaces, and seating areas and spaces that allow for a wide range of activities and uses.
The building, which will be designed and constructed by State Contracting & Engineering Corp. and Silva Architects, will offer free WiFi and grant users access to e-books from their cellphones or laptops.
Mayor Yioset De La Cruz worked together with Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz who sponsored the resolution, which was approved by the Miami‑Dade Board of County Commissioners. Both Commissioner Díaz and Mayor De La Cruz picked Westland Gardens Park because of the high concentration of children in the area. The new library will have several classrooms so students can receive tutoring there, as well as an auditorium to set up plays.
The new library is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. For updates click on go to www.statecontracting.com/mdchialeahgardenslibrary
