The Florida Department of Transportation is working to improve Okeechobee Road in a 10-mile corridor from the Broward/Miami-Dade County line to the Palmetto Expressway. Okeechobee is a principal arterial highway, part of the Florida’s Strategic Intermodal System (SIS). The highway is a freight route connecting the Lake Belt mining region to the Town of Medley industrial area, Miami International Airport and The Port of Miami. Watch video for more details.
