The City of Hialeah Gardens Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is providing and maintaining open spaces for safe and organized activities to the residents of The City of Hialeah Gardens.

The Parks and Recreation Department offers recreational services to its residents in four main park facilities plus several smaller neighborhood parks. Our primary location, Westland Gardens Park, is currently being renovated and new facilities added. Residents may rent, for a modest cost, indoor and outdoor facilities for family celebrations. They can also play tennis and basketball on our newly built courts, swim in the recently refurbished heated swimming pool, watch high school baseball games in our professional sized baseball field, or let their children play in our large, well-equipped playground.
The Park boasts an ongoing child’s baseball league, swim team, tennis and dance classes, YMCA summer program, and Neko-Do Systems Goju Ryu karate classes. Soccer, flag football, and a basketball league, will be offered in the summer. The completion of a new recreation center featuring a computer lab, racquetball and squash courts, a small soccer field, two gazebos, a new outdoor café, and new parking lot, is scheduled to be completed soon.

Westland Gardens Park is fully staffed, in order to insure the safety and well being of the children and visitors. Adjacent to Hialeah Gardens Elementary School is Golden Eagle Park. The three-acre park contains a playground area, bathrooms, concession stand, and Gazebo with domino tables. Golden Eagle Park is designed for children aged 12 and under.

In the central area of the city is Joe Sherron Park. Particularly designed with families in mind, this facility features outdoor gazebos and a children’s playground. Designed for shade and picnics, Bernie Wilson Park is within the southern district of the city. All around the City, small area and linear parks designed for families to take an afternoon stroll together, are available. For health and safety reasons, pets are not allowed within any other of the City parks.

The Parks and Recreation Department looks forward in having your family visit our parks. Please do not hesitate to contact Walter Dubon, Director of Parks and Recreation with your comments and suggestions at (305) 558-2331, or e-mail wdubon@cityofhialeahgardens.com
